The audience reaction was really amazing. Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Full Cast & Crew Director Robert Zemeckis Screenwriter Peter S. I don’t think you’d ever do it the same way now, but in its day it was pretty great. However, perhaps the real MVP of the (mostly) live action Who Framed Roger Rabbit cast is Christopher Lloyd, who went unnecessarily (but admirably) far with his performance as Judge Doom - who not. Then for each scene you’d get a stack of photostats made frame by frame of the material in that scene, and they’re all punched on the bottom and you put those on your pegs and then you draw into the scene.

The ‘invisible man’ movie was cut and we did a turnover where we talked about what was in the scene. We’d have to animate over it, so that’s why you’d see that Roger’s hand would be in a really stiff position sometimes because we were drawing over the top of the rod. If the rabbit picks something up you’d have it on a rod with a puppeteer under the table and it would fly up in the air. Richard Williams received a Special Achievement Award for “animation direction and creation of the cartoon characters.” Don Hahn produced the animation for the film and remembers the process of animating in a live action world, “(Director) Bob (Zemeckis) would cut an elaborate ‘invisible man’ movie so the actors were talking to the (later to be animated) rabbit in the chair. Warner Bros.’ top hare Bugs Bunny shared a scene with Disney’s top mouse, Mickey, and when Daffy Duck plays dueling pianos with Donald Duck he vows, “This is the last time I work with someone with a th-peech impediment!” Other than its historic gathering of ink and painted personalities, Roger Rabbit featured the most innovative combination of animation and live action, taking home the Academy Awards® for Visual Effects, Film Editing, and Sound Editing. You'll get some enjoyment out of it, that is, if you don't hate toons. For the first time ever, the greatest animated characters from major film studios came together as the cartoon cast of 1988’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit, one of the wackiest, wildest, zippiest, and zaniest films ever to come from the Disney studio. I wouldn't say it is one of the best of all Disney films, and like I said it's very mature. Review: Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a very fun film. Who was wanting to own Toon Town again? It was all just pieced together weird

On top of that, the plot about the freeway was kind of convoluted. How could kids innocently watch this film? I know if I had kids, they wouldnt watch it til they were older. Drinking, smoking, and even a wink at adultery in a movie about cartoons. Usually I like to give kids more credit than most and think that they can handle the rough stuff but this movie is really adult. She's not just the bland "hot chick" you see in most of these films, she gets a good line every now and again.īad: My main gripe with this film is that it's a kids film that's not for kids. But to be fair, she's a pretty fun character as well. And then of course you have Jessica Rabbit who isn't even an animal but is just drawn to be an unreasonably seductive character that no doubt draws attention. I have to admit, that got a giggle out of me. The guy's brother dies because a piano falls on his head. The jokes strike a chord at just how awkwardly hilarious they fit into the script. There's a lot of fun characters and I do like how they combine Disney characters with Warner Bros. I don't know why I was never really introduced to this film because of that reason, it's just cool. Yeah, even as a kid, I found that really cool how they could make that work. Good: The fact that real people can talk to cartoons. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a very entertaining film mostly for it's comedy and innovation.

And to be honest, he knows what he's doing here too. I'm usually a huge fan of Robert Zemeckis, he always seems to know what he's doing.
